Chbosky was Dellaira’s mentor before and somewhat during the writing process for this novel and his influence is clear in plot, emotion, and style of Love Letters to the Dead. If you enjoyed Perks, I definitely think you will love this new release–I actually prefer it to Perks myself. When I first started this novel, I knew that it had been compared to The Perks of Being a Wallflower–there is even a quote of praise from Stephen Chbosky on the front cover–but now that I have read both novels, the similarities are striking.
